JOB GOAL:   Assumes professional responsibility for providing specialized learning experiences and supervision of students with disabilities in a mainstream setting of a regular classroom. The focus of the Inclusion Teacher is to develop in each student the skills, attitudes, and knowledge to meet and exceed the State Core Curriculum Content Standards as outlined in the Individualized Education Plan (IEP) for the student, using approved curricula and directives of the school. Achieving academic excellence requires

that the Inclusion Teacher work collaboratively with other members of the school staff, particularly the regular classroom teacher, and the parents of each student.

 

QUALIFICATIONS AND TRAINING:

  • Bachelor Degree in Education,
  • Hold appropriate Tennessee certification license
  • Demonstrated organizational skills
  • Effective decision-making and verbal and written communication skills
  • Be Highly Qualified in this area

 

EVALUATION:       Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with

provisions of the Board’s policy on evaluation of personnel.

 

 

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

Job Description:  Elementary Education

   

  1. Provide an instructional program that is differentiated.

 

  1. Implement the educational program and comprehensive related services as

                  outlined in the students’ Individual Education Plans (IEP).

  1. Work in collaboration with and under the guidance of the regular classroom teacher in planning and implementing instruction, reinforcing or modifying the methods and materials used in the classroom to accommodate the needs and learning styles of the student.

 

  1. Analyze data and adjust your lessons accordingly.

 

  1. Plan, develop, implement, and monitor in with student success as your goal.

 

  1. Communicate effectively with parents and students.

 

  1. Grade and maintain records indicating the progress of the student in achieving the objectives of the IEP and the class or course.

 

  1. Participate in the development and annual review of IEPs. Monitor the implementation, and provide information about completed goals and objectives.
  2. Work cooperatively with adults assigned to the classroom (e.g., paraprofessionals, student teachers, parents, and volunteers), establishing clear expectations for roles and responsibilities.
  3. Provide a nurturing, supportive, and positive classroom climate that encourages student responsibility, using positive motivation, clear classroom routines, challenging instructional strategies, and effective classroom management techniques.
  4. Attend required staff meetings and serve, as appropriate, on staff committees. Participate in curriculum and program development, and in the selection of materials and equipment to support instruction.
  5. Assist with others duties as assigned by the Principal.
