REPORTS TO:         Executive Director of Special Services

                                    Deputy Superintendent

                                    Superintendent of Schools

 

                                                                       

TERM:                       11 months

 

JOB GOAL:               To facilitate learning and to promote the cognitive, social, and personal development of all students. Identifies and assesses the learning, development, characteristics, and needs of individuals and groups as well as the environmental factors that affect learning.  Uses assessment data about the student and develops appropriate interventions and programs.

EVALUATION: The performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with

provisions of the Board’s policy on the evaluation of personnel.

 

 

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

Job Description: School Psychologist

  1. Identifies and assesses the learning, development, and adjustment characteristics and needs of individuals and groups as well as environmental factors that affect learning and adjustments. Use assessment data about the student and develop appropriate interventions and programs.
  2. Provide interventions to students to support the teaching process in order to maximize adjustments.
  3. Deliver a planned and coordinated program of psychological services.
  4. Assist in planning, development, and evaluation of programs to meet identified learning and adjustment needs of students
  5. Provide collaborative consultation and documentation of results including assisting general and special education staff with suggestions and implementation in working with special needs students in the classroom setting.
  6. Maintain appropriate data on students to document current levels of performance and other pertinent information.
  7. Re-evaluate as appropriate to determine and extent of progress and effectiveness of therapy.
  8. Participate as part of the IEP committee contributing to evaluation findings and collaborating on the child’s Individual Educational Plan.
  9. Work with the special services team by helping where needed.
  10. Have the computer skills necessary to learn computer programs.
  11. Assist with other duties assigned by the special services director.
